God's in his heaven - All's right with the world!

本文为洗地。

本来没听过这句话，直到《EVA》；NERV总部的slogan；

然后有Fan就直接翻译成了：神不为者，人为之；（天地不仁，视万物为刍狗）

我觉得翻译的蛮好的（在我知道这句话的来历之前）。

结果好巧不巧，发现有人说翻译不对，说原文是：

The year’s at the spring,

And day’s at the morn;

Morning’s at seven;

The hill-side’s dew-pearled;

The lark’s on the wing;

The snail’s on the thorn;

God’s in His heaven—

All’s right with the world!

原文很欢快清新的基调，所以那么翻译不对，应该如下翻译：

一年适逢春,

一日正当晨，

朝钟鸣七响，

山山露珠润，

云雀在翱翔，

蜗牛荆条躺，

上帝天堂居——

万象皆调畅！

但其实原作者，甚至原全文，从wiki上来看，并不是单纯的欢快清新那么简单。

The work caused some controversy when it was first published, due to the matter-of-fact portrayals of many of the area’s more disreputable characters – notably the adulterous Ottima – and for its frankness on sexual matters.

大意就是勃朗宁的这个作品，初次发布带来了不少争议，原因是过多描写让人不齿的角色，特别是是通奸，以及直白的性事。

最后一句话更直接：

Despite this, the most famous passage in the poem is charming in its innocence:

The year’s at the spring,

…

God’s in His heaven—

All’s right with the world!

although the timing of this song renders it deeply ironic.

在1840年，第一次鸦片战争，日不落帝国。如此innocence的场景描述，简直讽刺。

给原文做出类似“凯撒归凯撒，上帝归上帝”的翻译，是合适的。

从这个角度而言，加上NERV做的那些表里不一（Seele很生气，后果很严重）的事情，以及一心想大融合的行径；在这样的语境下，翻译为“神不为者，人为之”，也很合适（这slogan就是亮点啊）。

太欢快的翻译什么的，还是算了吧。
